Wundermart, a company that installs unstaffed stores in offices, hospitals and hotels, has raised over 10 million euros of fresh capital. The firm intends to use the money to accelerate its international expansion.
Upscaling the concept
Kees Koolen, known from Booking.com, Uber and Hotmart, led the investment round. Slingshot Ventures, a supporter of the Dutch start-up since the beginning of last year, also participated. “This investment allows Wundermart to scale up their concept quickly”, explains Koolen in Dutch newspaper Levensmiddelenkrant.
Wundermart opened its first fully automated store in Belgium this spring in two hotels in Brussels. It also has several dozen unstaffed mini-supermarkets in the Netherlands and Germany. The tech platform previously indicated that it also has plans for France, Portugal and the UK.
