Counter climate change
These 39 French multinationals have a joint 1,200 billion euro yearly turnover and employ 4.4 million people worldwide. Between 2016 and 2020, they will invest 170 billion euro into the environment: 45 billion euro for renewable energy and technologies designed to limit CO2 emissions and 80 billion euro for projects that help counter the effects of climate change.
Several major companies are contributing to the project: distributor Carrefour, dairy and water manufacturer Danone, advertising giant JCDecaux and luxury group Kering. Others are BNP Paribas, EDF, La Poste, Michelin, Orange, Publicis, Saint-Gobain and Total. These companies also asked the representatives at the Paris climate talks to create a “ambitious and realistic plan”.
CEO’s of 78 mainly European multinationals had launched a similar request last week.
