Non-food discounter Action has started its 2022 year with a strong performance: its sales have risen by more than a quarter and the retailer added thirty shops to its already impressive store network. Owner 3i is confident that the chain will continue to grow and prosper, even in tough times.
‘A formidable retail business’ in times like these
When the market is tough, Action is going strong, as the Dutch retailer is proving once again. The chain’s turnover in the first quarter of 2022 rose by more than a quarter to 1.8 billion euros, Dutch newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad writes. Owner 3i confirms that its chain has started the year well.
In the first months of the year, the formula added thirty shops – including its first four in the Spanish region of Catalonia. In January, Action had already passed the 2,000-store mark in Europe.
Over the whole of 2021, Action’s turnover increased by 23 %, 3i announces. Operational profit increased by 36 % and in the twelve months to 3 April, it reached 932 million euros. 3i is therefore firmly convinced that Action is a “formidable retail business” that will continue to grow and prosper in the current challenging environment.
