American internet warehouse Amazon’s French division is looking for 2,000 employees to keep up with its strong growth. Amazon.Fr is not only the most popular web shop in France, but also in Belgium.
18 to 20 million unique visitors per month
“The overall economic situation has encouraged us to invest more in France”, Amazon France CEO Frédéric Duval said. The company is looking for an additional 2,000 people and is also currently building a new distribution center. That will be its sixth in France and that location will require at least several hundred logistic employees. Amazon France employed 4,000 people in 2016, but that number should top 7,500 by the end of 2018.
“These new job openings are the result of our continued investments to better meet the customers’ needs and to expand our distribution network with rapid and dependable deliveries”, Duval added. He wants to focus on same-day deliveries and even announced the French launch of Amazon’s intelligent assistent, Alexa.
Amazon.fr allegedly attracts 18 to 20 million unique French visitors per month, a number that keeps growing. The French Amazon site is also incredibly popular in Belgium: it generated 158 million page views in 2017, which means it is Belgium’s most popular web shop. Bol.com for instance is fourth in that list, with 94 million page views.
