Amazon has released its discount site Haul, with which it wants to rival Temu – just in time for the holiday season. All of the items sold on Haul will cost twenty dollars or less.
Chinese drop shipping
The new discount site will sell a wide variety of items, from kitchenware to smartphone cases and gloves. Amazon specifically sources these bargain items in China: manufacturers can ship items directly from China, as Amazon allows for longer delivery times of up to two weeks for Haul partners.
The result is “a wide selection of products – all priced $20 and under”, with shipping made free for purchases above 25 dollars and additional discounts for for purchases above 50 dollars. Returns on items less than three dollars are not allowed, but Amazon says it does provide a full warranty on all products. In this way, the retailer hopes to inspire a little more confidence than Temu.
The bargain corner has been launched in test version and is currently only available to customers in the US. In a press release, Amazon stated that it is “just getting started”, and “will continue to listen to customers as we refine and expand the project in the coming weeks and months.”
