Amazon has transformed its Amazon Dash into a virtual version for its website. Amazon will give customers advice, but they can also add their own versions of the button that allows them to order a particular product instantly.

The new virtual Dash buttons first appeared on Amazon on Thursday and are created based on a customer’s recent purchases. If they so desire, they can instantly order that item again with a single press of the button. According to Amazon, these buttons can be made for tens of millions of products.
Customers can also add their own buttons, albeit limited. “Add to your Dash buttons” is a new option on product pages and entirely free, unlike the actual physical Dash button.
Amazon says it decided to add the virtual system following the success of the physical Dash button and not because its one-click purchase patent expires this year, giving other web shops the opportunity to create similar systems soon.
