With the official opening of its Irish web platform, Amazon promises Irish consumers faster deliveries, easier returns, local prices and less red tape.
200 million products
Irish online shoppers were until recently redirected to the amazon.co.uk website, but Brexit has made that quite problematic: many merchants decided to stop delivering to Ireland because of the huge administrative hassle. Moreover, consumers faced high import duties when importing from the United Kingdom.
From now on, however, Amazon.ie gives access to a range of 200 million products that will be delivered faster, easier to return… and priced in euros, rather than British pounds. As in other countries, Amazon.ie is launching a ‘Brands of Ireland’ section to highlight local brands.
Amazon has been operating in Ireland for more than twenty years and employs 6,500 people in branches in Cork, Drogheda and Dublin.
