Anything is better than single-use
Retailers are struggling with the environmental impact of the many online parcels, as both consumer and packaging regulations become increasingly stringent. However, the environmental sustainability of packaging is difficult to determine. An international team of scientists has conducted new research using eight concrete case studies.
“The remarkable conclusion of this study is that although many providers advertise a very high potential for reuse (e.g. up to 100 times), in practice it turns out to be impossible to reach this maximum – and also unnecessary”, according to the researchers.
