Charlie Temple, a Dutch online optician belonging to the GrandVision group, is expanding to two more markets: Austria and Belgium.
Online only
Charlie Temple is an online pure player that had already expanded to Germany after last year’s acquisition by GrandVision, which also owns optician chains like Pearle and Eyewish. The choice for both countries is a logical one, the company says: after all, the website needs no translating for this expansion to Austria’s German-language speakers and Belgium’s Dutch language speakers.
An expansion to Belgium’s southern half does not appear to be imminent, but further expansion will still follow. E-commerce director Jan Cortenbach told Twinkle Magazine that a further expansion is only a matter of time.
Charlie Temple was founded in 2016 and applauds itself for its low prices: the company says it can offer lower prices as it does not have any physical stores.
