Pilot program at Blokker
Currently, Douwe Egberts has 14 stores in the Netherlands, with a bar in 10 of those. It not only sells coffee in these stores, but also coffee machines, cups and other coffee-focused appliances.
The company has now started a collaboration with Blokker to move its product range to the chain. Its points, which you can collect from the Douwe Egbert packs, can also be handed in at Blokker. Both companies have started a pilot program in 4 Blokker stores, but it remains to be seen how many people will lose their jobs because of the store closures.
Douwe Egberts also has 14 franchise stores and it will start talks with these franchisees soon to see what the future holds for them.
