NIU, a Chinese brand of e-scooters, is opening its first Belgian store in Antwerp.
“Modal shift”
The Chinese brand chose Antwerp as the location for its first Belgian store, because “Antwerp is a beautiful city, that is at the beginning of an important modal shift. We want to support its people by offering them an alternative for the usual mobility options“, store manager Ezra van Manen explains to local magazine Made in Antwerpen.
NIU already has stores in cities like Amsterdam, London and Paris, but works through an omnichannel model: test drives can bee booked online and it also has a web shop. The brand was founded in 2015 and had its IPO in 2018.
