Belgian soap manufacturer Ecover sold its factory in Boulogne-sur-Mer to family company Vandeputte, which also manufacturers soap and (laundry) detergent. The buyer wants to expand its manufacturing capabilities in order to meet the increased demand.
French possibilities
Vandeputte currently has a factory in Mouscron, but that factory was no longer able to generate the output required. Vandeputte sees an increasing number of possibilities, which is why it feels the factory acquisition in Boulogne-sur-Mer is the perfect next step. Its 2015 turnover reached 130 million euro and it employs 230 people. The company pays plenty of attention to sustainability, similar to Ecover.
Ecover sold its French factory because it wants to move its entire production process to Belgium, increasing the production in Malle from 20 million packages to 35 million packages per year. Ecover also expects the factory in Malle to keep growing in the future.
