El Corte Inglés posted solid profit growth last year. Private labels and e-commerce in particular generated higher margins for the Spanish department store group, while fashion and hospitality were the physical drivers.
Growth expected across the board
El Corte Inglés closed the 2024-2025 financial year with a net profit of 512 million euros, an increase of 6.7% compared to the previous year. However, turnover increased to a lesser extent, by 2%, to 16.68 billion euros. The company believes that investments in operational efficiency and the success of private labels were responsible for the higher profitability, while the number of online customers grew significantly as well.
