Google wants to transform its Trusted Stores program into Customer Reviews and it hopes web shops will ask their customers for more reviews to help improve’s scores on Google.
Merchant Center
Through Customer Reviews, web shops can ask customers to opt-in for a Google mail which will ask them to review their purchase. Obviously, web shops that participate are featured more prominently on Google.
Customer Reviews will also become part of Google Merchant Center, which provides a range of company-focused tools like Google Maps presence and Google Shopping campaigns. For a while now, Google has been expanding its web shop services as well. Retailers who use Trusted Stores will automatically get a Customer Reviews account and if they so choose, they can place a badge on their site to display their rating.
This move to attract more reviews for online purchases is another one of Google’s attempts to get more customer reviews, like when it launched review locations on Google Maps.
