31 French stores
The first of these three stores opened in Centre Commercial Valentine, a large shopping centre in Marseille. A shopping centre is also the home of the next two stores: the Marseille Avant Cap and Marseille Grand Littoral. It signals Hema’s intention to continue its French expansion after it has already successfully appeared in Paris, Bordeaux and the north of France.
“French customers have reacted very positively and we will not stop with these three stores in Marseille, as we will focus on several locations throughout the land. We want to have a Hema in all major French cities”, CEO Ronald van Zetten stated.
“We are proud we can feed our ambition to grow, both nationally and internationally, as we have shown with our announced openings in England and Spain”, he said. Hema currently has more than 660 stores in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Germany.
