New customers in new countries
To test international markets, Hema will sell items through marketplaces like Amazon and La Redoute. “We will take care of the fulfillment ourselves and we hope to attract new customers from new countries. After a while, we will decide to go live abroad with our own stores and a web shop”, Joke Vinke told Twinkle.
Currently, products are for sale in France and it will expand into other countries in upcoming weeks. Hema already has its own web shop in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France, while it has also opened its first British store. The United Kingdom will also get its own web shop soon, just like Spain.
Back in 2010, Hema had opened a separate eDC to serve as the logistics center for its online orders “as fulfillment for online orders requires an entirely different approach, much more customer-centric.”
