Kurt Staelens, who used to be bankrupted Macintosh’ CEO, will start working for American Sears, where he will take charge of the Living and Shoes division.
Member of the Executive Committee
The 46-year old Belgian will also become part of Sears’ Executive Committee and apparently started work earlier this month. The American company has 1,700 stores, both as Sears and its Kmart brand and a 2015 turnover of 25.1 billion dollars (22.9 billion euro) and a 1.1 billion dollars (1 billion euro) loss.
Staelens replaced Frank de Moor as Macintosh CEO in 2014, a company in troubled waters that he could not steer to a safe harbour. Late last year, the company (which owned brands like Dolcis, Manfield and Brantanto) went bankrupt.
Staelens also worked for Belgian telecom company Telenet, Brussels Airport, Neckermann Benelux and Belgacom. He guided Neckermann from a mail order company to an eCommerce company.
