La Redoute is set to roll out its subscription service internationally. Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain will soon follow Switzerland, where the subscription model has already been implemented.
Subscribers spend three times more
Since mid-January, the La Redoute+ subscription has been available in Switzerland, the first country outside France to offer the service. Subscribers receive unlimited free delivery on all products, including large furniture items, provided they are sold and shipped directly by La Redoute. Also, they benefit from some exclusive discounts.
Later this year, the subscription will be extended to Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain. The French e-commerce player has a very good reason for doing so: in France, subscribers already account for 45 % of sales. They purchase twice as often and spend three times more than non-subscribers, the press release states. The company also seeks to strengthen its position in the home decor segment, which currently represents 70 % of its turnover, surpassing fashion by a long way. Consequently, La Redoute plans to open physical furniture stores in Italy and Switzerland later this year, LSA reports.
La Redoute, which has been a part of Galeries Lafayette since 2022, boasts 8.8 million active customers across more than twenty countries and achieved a turnover of 816.7 million euros in 2023. That was an 8.1 % decrease compared to the previous year.
