Just like many other companies, Nivea’s parent company, German Beiersdorf, was hit by a cyber-attack last year. However, its financial results show that the attack was rather easily overcome.
Strong growth for Tesa
In the first half of the year, turnover grew 4.6 % to 3.5 billion euro and looking at autonomous turnover growth, there was a 3.3 % surge. Excluding the cyber-attack’s influence, growth would even be another percent higher. This is clearly visible in the company’s profit, because its gross profit grew nearly 10 % to 561 million euro. Beiersdorf points out that the cyber-attack had a 35 million euro impact on the company’s results.
Subsidiary Tesa, best known for its adhesive tapes, achieved the largest sales growth, up 9 % to 610 million euro. The Consumer division, with brands like Nivea, grew 3.8 % to 2.9 billion euro.
Beiersdorf expects to maintain its full fiscal year forecast, with a 3 to 4 % turnover growth and slightly higher margins than in the previous fiscal year.
