A salesman can create an account to connect to the new system and from then on, customers can start scanning articles with the bar code scanner on the iPod. These items will immediately be added to a baby gift registry, but also instantly change the article’s stock levels. This should allow the customer to operate independently instead of having to rely on a salesman.
Employees can also use the iPods to check supplies and to scan particular bar codes which show something is no longer available in the store. They can then immediately order new items and check when it will be delivered.
Orchestra will expand the system to all of its stores in France, Belgium and Luxembourg over the next few months.
