Preparation for the new banknote
The brochure will explain how retailers can prepare their sorting and detection equipment to deal with the new banknote. The European Central Bank will also explain its new appearance and its authenticity characteristics.
Detectable ink, a silver band with a hologram based on Greek mythology on the right and an emerald green number 10 in the bottom left are all new additions on the banknote. “We are doing this to make sure that the information gets to as many professional people dealing with money in every country of the eurozone, in order to prepare them for the new banknote“, Ton Roos, director banknotes at the ECB, said.
The new banknote will enter the market on 23 September. The brochure has already been sent out in Finland and Estonia and by the end of June, every country in the eurozone should have received the brochure.
