German non-food discounter Tedi has opened its first store in France. Eventually, the German rival of Action wants to have up to 2,000 shops in France.
Twelve stores concrete
Tedi announced its entry into Belgium and France almost simultaneously in February. The non-food discounter announced it was looking for locations to open a dozen shops in Belgium in 2023, and it had even already found a concrete location in France.
Indeed, the first French shop has now opened in Évreux, Normandy. The shop is located just opposite a Carrefour hypermarket and therefore benefits from a high footfall. The shop measures nearly 1,000 sqm and offers a range of some 15,000 references, Fashion Network reports.
Tedi claims to have a dozen openings planned in the north and west of France. In total, the German chain even sees a potential of 2,000 locations. In a press release, the company states that it also successfully launched in Bulgaria in March this year. Remarkably, the press release does not mention Belgium. Is the newcomer already encountering delays?
