Wibra has broken its records in both profits and sales again last year. A continued expansion leads the Dutch non-food discounter to the eve of a French adventure, after having recently celebrated its 300th store opening.
New growth spurt
In 2023, Wibra sales rose to 193.8 million euros, shattering the previous year’s record of 170.9 million euros at the first attempt, Quote reports. Dutch sales rose by 15 million euros to 146 million, while Belgian sales rose by 10 million euros to 47 million.
The non-food discounter also achieved a new record profit, which rose from 6.56 million euros in 2022 to 6.95 million in 2023. In its annual report, Wibra also noted a decrease in its carbon footprint by 880,979 kilograms of CO2.
The main growth driver was expansion: a net eight shops were added last year, taking the total to 271. Of these, 219 were in the Netherlands and 52 in Belgium. This year, the chain’s 300th store opened in Mall of the Netherlands (Leidschendam) and next week the chain will launch in France, with the first store opening in Lille.
