A new Scandinavian design brand will venture into Belgium: Danish Bolia opened its first Belgian store on 22 June in a very special location: the “Wolweverskapel” (the wool weaver’s chapel) in the Kortedagsteeg in Gent.
Personalized designs
Interior design brand Bolia presents itself as a design company that puts creativity first and designs unique collections. Every item is hand-crafted in Denmark and several other European countries, based on materials like wood, wool, metal, marble and leather. The company does not have enormous warehouses with old stock, but only creates furniture based on orders and adjusted to personal taste. In the end, this creates a minimalist style with an edge.
To allow the remarkable collections to fully shine, the brand always chooses peculiar store locations and it hit the mark in Ghent: a former chapel, previously used by McGregor. It also tickles the senses with creative merchandising, a trendy soundtrack, scent marketing and organic coffee, leaving nothing to chance. More Belgian stores are on the horizon, with one opening soon in Brussels.
Bolia started out as a web shop, but now has stores in more than 25 countries. The company is part of the Furniture Group, a holding owned by Jysk owner Lars Larsen.
