JYSK has opened its first two stores in Africa. Both stores are located in Morocco’s largest city, Casablanca, making the North-African kingdom the fiftieth market in which the Danish home furnishing company operates.
Casablanca as starting point
Apart from the stores, which opened in the shopping centres Viva Park and Aeria Mall, JYSK has also opened a local head office in Casablanca, as well as a webshop that makes the entire range available online to Moroccan customers. The opening of a third physical store is already planned for later this year.
Choosing Morocco as the first African market fits in with the broader strategy of entering new regions with directly operated stores. The last time JYSK did this was in Turkey in 2023. “Our expansion into Morocco is a confirmation of JYSK’s business model, which continues to be a success across all our markets”, CEO Rami Jensen said.
