Jysk has reached several new milestones: in Belgium, annual sales exceeded 100 million euros for the first time, while Dutch sales went over 200 million euros for the first time. The Danish chain also managed to improve its operating profit.
New customer record
In the past financial year (through August), Jysk saw its sales increase by 7.6 % to 41.4 billion Danish crowns (5.6 billion euros) and its operating profit even by 12 % to 4.43 billion crowns (just under 600 million euros). Jysk opened 137 new shops last financial year and welcomed a record 11.9 million new customers. The Danish retailer now has more than 3,400 shops in 48 countries. Morocco will become market number 49 as Jysk’s first shops there will open next spring.
In Belgium, the Danish chain reached the threshold of 100 million euros thanks to a 13.5 % increase to 100.6 million. Operating profit (EBIT) rose 53.6 % to 5.3 million euros. In the Netherlands, sales increased by 10 % to 200.1 million euro, with operating profit climbing 20.3 % to 23.1 million euros. Jysk benefited from investments in price cuts in the last financial year, while also remaining committed to expansion. Six new Belgian shops were added, while two existing stores moved to a larger location. A new head office opened next to the flagship store in Schoten.
The retailer also opened four new Dutch shops and nine shops in the country were completely revamped. Almost all shops in the Netherlands have now been converted to the new concept. Moreover, the company started construction of a 147,000 sqm automated distribution centre that will be completed during 2026.
