Danish kitchen manufacturer Kvik is launching KvikLiving, its first furniture collection. The company wants to “show that it is more than a kitchen brand” and is already planning further expansion.
Towards a holistic range
Kvik’s diversification into furniture starts modestly: the first collection consists of two dining chairs and a lounge chair. Designed by Hans Thyge & Co, the new chairs are (almost) fully recyclable. The new label was presented at the international design festival 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen. This autumn, the new collection will be available online and in shops.
For the kitchen chain, the expansion is “the first step towards a holistic offering of Danish design”, in line with the kitchen, bathroom and dressing collections that have been part of the range since the beginning. Its Head of Design, Claus Johnsen, says: “We want to show that we are more than a kitchen brand. From here, we already have plans to expand the range further into our KvikLiving collection.”
Besides the new KvikLiving collection, the Danish chain also launched a new tool at the event that calculates the environmental impact of its products. For example, customers will soon be able to see how many recycled PET bottles and recycled wood have been used in their new kitchen when they make their purchase, as well as its carbon footprint.
