Krëfel is discontinuing its kitchen business: the Belgian formula wants to concentrate on household appliances. The fifteen showrooms will close, 41 jobs will be lost.
“Coherent and responsible decision”
Krëfel wants to focus on its core business of home appliances, and withdraw from the kitchen sector. All activities will be (gradually) wound down, the Belgian chain announced. “The kitchen business operates in a particularly complex and highly competitive environment, affected by rising costs. Phasing out the increasingly unprofitable kitchen business should allow Krëfel to focus on a resilient long-term strategy”, CEO Jonathan De Nys explained. He called the decision “coherent and responsible”.
Customers who already have a kitchen from the retailer will still receive after-sales service. In the medium to long term, Krëfel’s teams will provide follow-up. All employees will lose their positions, but will be guided to a solution “on a case-by-case basis”. For example, employees will be given the opportunity to apply for one of the open positions.
