Dutch online retailer VidaXL has achieved a record profit of 177 million euros in 2021 and will most likely immediately better this result in 2022. The reason for this, however, is not necessarily an upturn in product sales.
Sales, but differently
The webshop has increased its sales of – among other things – furniture, accessories and sportswear – by 12.5 % to 762 million euros, Quote reports. Sales in France and Germany were worth 250 million, in its Dutch home market 60 million, and in the rest of Europe 365 million. In the rest of the world (Australia and the Middle East, mainly), sales climbed up to 90 million.
Its trade proves to be lucrative: profit rose 7 % to a new record height of 177 million euros. However, 50 million euros came from the sale of a real estate property to a German investor in a sale and lease back operation. According to the same website, profit in 2022 will be even higher – aided by the fact that another, similar real estate deal has earned VidaXL 148 million euros.
