Maxi Zoo is adding seventy Dutch stores this summer, as the German pet store chain is rebranding all its recently acquired Jumper stores to its own international brand name.
Aspiring market leader
Last year, German group Fressnapf took over Dutch pet store chain Jumper. They continued to operate under their familiar name, but that is now changing: “All existing Jumper shops will be renamed to Maxi Zoo before the end of July“, a spokesperson told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
This involves fifty shops and seventeen shop-in-shop outlets in garden shops and DIY stores. In addition, European market leader Maxi Zoo will open two new shops: on 5 June in Maastricht and on 19 June in Coevorden. A Dutch webshop is not in the pipeline, for the time being.
The retailer is currently the runner-up in the Netherlands, after Pets Place, but has the ambition to become the market leader. In Belgium too, the group is committed to accelerated expansion to become market leader with Maxi Zoo. Fressnapf now operates in fourteen European countries with 2,000 shops and a turnover of 3.5 billion euros.
