2.9 billion euro turnover in 2014
Despite its smaller size, Portugal’s eCommerce is growing rapidly: its 2014 total turnover grew 13 % to 2.9 billion euro. On average, a Portuguese online shopper spends 988 euro per year, which is well above the average in other regional and influential countries, like Spain and Italy. These two countries represent more than 50 % of the region’s turnover.
François Momboisse, president of Ecommerce Europe’s board of directors, is happy with the Portuguese addition: “Southern Europe is an important emerging eCommerce market and with this membership, we can represent the e-commerce interests of the region even better.”
