Amazon launched its Amazon Dash device in the United Kingdom. Customers can use it to scan bar codes and those items will automatically be ordered at Amazon.
Free with Amazon Fresh
Not only can it scan bar codes, it can also register “voice commands” for product orders. These are then added to Amazon’s shopping cart and the customer can then finalize the order online.
Amazon decided to launch the item in the United Kingdom as well, because it also recently introduced Amazon Fresh and Amazon Dash is designed to make ordering things easier for Amazon Fresh subscribers.
Trial in London
“We’re all used to trying to remember the contents of the fridge and kitchen cupboard and scribbling down reminders on pieces of paper,” said Ajay Kavan, vice president of Amazon Fresh. “With Dash, at any given time, customers can keep track of products when they come to mind and scan to reorder groceries and household essentials as soon as they run out.”
Amazon Fresh was launched in the United Kingdom last month, but is currently only available to customers in London. Amazon Fresh subscribers get a free Amazon Dash with their second order, a deal that lasts until the end of August.
