Separate section on the website
The American company has attracted 5 parties to create a new section on its website, that is particularly geared towards products that were created with a 3D-printer. Amazon has partitioned the items in 4 separate branches: toys, home accessories, jewelry and fashion/tech accessories.
John Hauer from start-up 3DLT has revealed the collaboration: his company started adding 3D-printed products, which made Amazon realize it did not have a specific section for these articles. 3DLT has added some 50 3D-printed objects, a number that should increase in the next few weeks.
“Defining moment”
According to Hauer, the Amazon move is the start of the sale of 3D printed products. “When it was announced that Amazon would be selling 3D printers and supplies last summer, the industry heralded it as a defining moment, a clear indication that 3D printing was going mainstream. We think the decision to sell 3D printed products sends an even bigger message”, says Hauer.
Hema has ecently also started selling products which were made by a 3D printer. One example is that customers can order their personalized jewelry.
