Amazon announced it will open a third book store in the United States this fall. Location: the Washington Square shopping mall in Tigard, near Portland (Oregon).
Future for physical stores
Amazon recently opened its first book store in its home town, Seattle, quickly followed by another one in San Diego. With the announcement of its third store, Amazon seems intent on creating a real book store chain. Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos, had already said the company sees a future for more physical stores, but it mainly wants to learn more about how to manage stores first.
With its third store, Amazon is moving away from a previous strategy, as its first two stores are located near a major university or college.
