British household appliance web shop AO World‘s second quarter turnover for the European mainland doubled and the company aims to speed up its European expansion.
Barely any problems because of Brexit
AO World is currently active in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Germany, but CEO John Roberts wants to add several other markets as quickly as possible. Only last month, the company revealed it was still onerous, despite a higher turnover. Dutch and German investments, like a new distribution center in Bergheim (Germany), were the cause of its onerous state at the moment.
The online retailer says it barely feels any impact of the Brexit: “If you need a washing machine, you need a washing machine — it’s a distressed purchase, so I think we’re insulated in a way from the effects of Brexit,” Robert told the Financial Times. Turnover in the United Kingdom grew 25 % in the past quarter.
