iCloud and iBook Store also in trouble
The online stores were available the entire time, but customers could not finalize purchases as a prompt told them it was temporarily impossible to do so. The technical malfunction also hindered its iCloud and iBook Store services and lasted about 11 hours.
There is no information about how much this error cost, but according to the American Chicago Tribune paper, the iTunes and App Store generate about 50 million dollars in turnover per day. A quick calculation results in some 22.9 million dollars (about 21.7 million euro) in lost revenue.
