Five years after its first test flight, Dutch Pal-V announced it is ready to start commercially selling its flying car, called Liberty. Not everyone will be able to afford it, because its cheapest model costs more than 300,000 euro.
Pilot license
Customers will have a choice between the Liberty Sport and the more expensive Liberty Pioneer Edition. The latter will cost more than 500,000 euro, but will be available sooner, because the Liberty Sport will only go on sale after everyone who ordered a Pioneer Edition has received theirs.
In order to be allowed to drive a Liberty, one does not need a special permit. The car reaches 160 km per hour and adheres to every legislation regarding cars. If you want to reach for the skies, you will need to have a pilot license. Once obtained, you can take off and land at pretty much every airport.
The Liberty does not need to refuel for 1,300 kilometers when driving, but its action radius is limited to 400 kilometers in the air. It is not possible to instantly switch from driving to flying or vice versa, but it will only require about 5 minutes to switch from ground to air.
