On Amazon.nl, customers can find more than 20,000 Dutch books and more than 3 million in other languages, 700,000 exclusively for Kindle. “We are thrilled to have a Dutch-focused webshop. From today, we will offer the complete Kindle experience in Dutch”, vice-president Jorrit van der Meulen said.
Amazon will also offer Kindle Direct Publishing, which will allow independent authors to publish on Amazon.nl, keeping up to 70 % of all royalties. “Authors and publishers can now put their books on a Dutch website for Dutch readers and even readers all across the world and earn even more. A lo of people have a story to tell and we want to make it easier to share their books with their readers”, Van der Meulen said.
Amazon.nl Kindle Store’s launch is the first step the world’s largest online retailer has taken in the Netherlands. The product range will probably be expanded in the near future to accommodate all of Amazon’s services and products.
