Five priorities in policy
Ecommerce Europe wants to put the item on the agenda now that there are European elections, because the organization wants more attention for e-commerce in Europe. The sector brings in a lot of economic growth and adds to the employment thanks to its large growth, according to Ecommerce Europe.
That is why it has launched a new website to explain its policy priorities, particularly 5 items it wants to emphasize: internet security and data protection, consumer rights, payments, taxes and logistics.
It wishes to get a European e-identification system, which should enable more sales across the borders of the different nations. It also wants a European label to give to high-quality web shops, but it wants the branch to develop this label, not the European lawmakers. For that to work, online payments have to become easier and costs have to be lower.
