Click&Collect in 200 sales points
Spanish and Portuguese people can now order anything in El Corte Inglés’ range of products and pick it up, within 3 to 10 days, in one of 200 stores the company has in Spain and Portugal.
It won’t be limited to El Corte Inglés stores, as its affiliate chains, Supercor and Supercor Exprés, will also act as a Click&Collect point. In Supercor Exprés stores, the new service will fit in alongside the Click&Car service which allows employees to place online orders (food, drinks and household items) directly into the customers’ cars.
The Click&Collect initiative puts the Spanish chain of department stores on the same level as its British and French competitors as John Lewis and Galeries Lafayette have had the same service for some time now.
Boost turnover through e-commerce
The new service is part of Spain’s largest distributor’s larger strategy to boost turnover through e-commerce. The company is now looking beyond the country’s borders to entice the many foreign tourists who might visit its stores when they come to Spain for their holiday.
That is why El Corte Inglés translated its Spanish web shop into French and English back in March to be able to expand into France, the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Netherlands with free delivery if customers’ orders surpass the 50 euro boundary. Otherwise, they will have to pay 5.95 euro as a delivery fee.
Belgian customers will not be able to use El Corte Inglés’ European web shop yet, but the Spanish web shop will still service the rest of Europe, even though its costs are also quite considerable. Up until 3 kilogram (for a maximum of 7 items) could cost an additional 18 euro, while a higher weight (up until 15 kilogram) even costs 23 euro.
