Four online fashion retailers managed to surpass the 1 billion euro turnover in 2015: Zalando, Yoox Net-a-Porter, Vente-Privée and Asos. All of them have put additional growth on their forecast.
Zalando leads the charge
British Asos managed to barely surpass the 1 billion euro mark in 2015, but already boosted that number to 1.2 billion euro in 2015. Yoox and Net-a-Porter were not present in the list in 2014, because they were separate companies, but they would have had a 1.3 billion euro turnover. Together, after the merger, its turnover grew to 1.7 billion euro in 2015 according to excitingcommerce.de.
Second in the list is Vente-Privéé, which even surpassed the 2 billion euro mark in 2015, having reached 1.7 billion euro the year before. However, that means it is still trailing German Zalando by quite a distance, which managed to double its lead. In 2014, Zalando managed a 2.2 billion euro turnover and it added nearly 50 % to that in 2015, reaching 3 billion euro.
The major online fashion retailers have no intention of slowing down and Zalando might even reach 5 billion euro in turnover by 2017. The other companies will continue their investment in logistics and an ever-increasing customer base.
