Too much competition
Media-Saturn acquired Redcoon in 2011 and said at the time that the online retailer would become part of the company’s strategy to increase its online presence. It has now decided that it is no more useful to invest in Redcoon’s presence in France and Denmark, as it feels the e-tailer entered the market too late and that the competition has gained too much of an advantage.
Media-Saturn will now focus on the eight remaining Redcoon markets, where it hopes to wipe away the small competitive disadvantage it may have. It may still decide to return to either country, but for the time being, it wants to focus on markets in which it has gained a foothold.
