Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung has launched a payment service for its Smart TVs. With Samsung Checkout, users can go through an entire payment process with their remote control. From the start, the service is available in 53 countries.
“One single, easy package”
Before consumers can use Samsung Checkout, they will need to link their television to a PayPal account or enter their credit card information. Subsequently, a four-digit password has to be entered, which will then be used to confirm orders later on. The service will only work on Smart TVs that have been available since 2014, meaning it should be available on about sixty million Samsung Smart TVs.
“For consumers, being able to purchase goods, apps and services directly from their TVs could be a vastly richer experience, bringing together many aspects of life together in one easy package”, Samsung explains its reasoning behind the service’s launch.
