Marketplaces more popular
“Nearly a third of all e-tailers uses marketplaces, which keep amassing increasing sales. That is why it makes almost perfect sense that we want to be present in this promising market channel and with our own marketplace, we can offer our customers even more choice and satisfaction”, Boris Saragaglia, Spartoo’s CEO and co-founder, said.
Through its new marketplace, it has also managed to increase its array of products from 30,000 items (from 750 brands) to 70,000 items (from over 1,000 brands). Spartoo had also increased its clothing lines for both men and women in March and now has over 6,000 items on sale from some 100 brands.
Physical stores with “smart” array of products
According to French LSA, Spartoo is considering moving into the retail business through some 20 physical stores in and around Paris, with plans already in the final stages apparently. It would open 200 sqm boutiques with some 1,000 shoes on sale, based on its online customer data displaying the customers in the store’s vicinity, the variation in clientele and the type of shoes they usually buy.
Spartoo, founded in 2006 in Grenoble, is currently active in 20 European countries, among which Belgium and the Netherlands. It has managed a 2013 turnover of 130 million euro, with 14 million unique visitors per month – and it has a Belgian shareholder (Sofina).
