British online electronics seller, AO World, managed a 25.7 % turnover growth in the past fiscal year, up to 559.2 million pounds (712.6 million euro). Its Dutch launch was also encouraging, the company revealed.
New warehouse in Cologne by the end of 2016
Despite the strong full-year growth, its operational loss grew to 10.6 million pounds (13.5 million euro), quintupling last year’s loss which was caused by the company’s investment policy at that time.
AO, originally a British company, has a web shop in the United Kingdom, but also has one in Germany. Starting in February, it expanded its online reach to the Netherlands and it calls its Dutch start “encouraging”.
With a new warehouse in Cologne, which should become fully operational by the end of the year, its Dutch logistics should improve a lot. As soon as that warehouse is active, the company will look towards web shops in neighbouring countries, although it refrained from stating which countries it was considering.
