Pick-up points in own stores
The goal was to have commuters pick up orders as they came from and went to their job, but apparently the majority of customers merely drove to the pick-up point, which made them rather superfluous. Asda, Waitrose and Ocado will persist with their pick-up points in subway stations for the time being, but they might also cancel their collaboration with Transport for London in the near future.
Tesco had announced last year it would increase its number of pick-up points from 6 to 14, but the company went through some rough financial patches since then. That has forced the company to take drastic measures to counter the losses: 49 planned stores were cancelled and an additional 43 existing stores were shut down. On top of that, Tesco is trying to sell off certain activities.
