German musical instrument web shop Thomann.de has been elected European Web shop of the year during the Global e-commerce summit in Barcelona. Silver went to Swedish Tailorstore.com, the bronze was for Danish Nemlig.com.
Celebrating and stimulating the sector’s growth
The summit’s goal was both to celebrate “the growing impact of the e-commerce sector” and to stimulate that growth by rewarding the best initiatives in each member country. Each country held a pre-selection to send its best web shop to Barcelona to hold a presentation and answer to a jury’s questions.
Coolblue and Bol.com left empty-handed
Belgium’s BeCommerce Award winner Coolblue.be and Dutch Thuiswinkel Award winner Bol.com did not reach the podium, while German entry Thomann.com convinced the jury with their success in a markt segment that, until a few years ago, nobody saw fit for internet retail.
