Mobile payment with Facebook login
The payment method through Facebook is currently being tested, but in the coming month the first real transactions will happen. The social network will team up with JeckThreads, because that company has to handle a large number of payments via smartphone.
The first time someone wants to use the new payment method, he will have to link his credit card to his profile. The next time it will suffice to log in with your Facebook account. The user can then use the form he filled out earlier to make his payment. This way credit card information or PayPal data will no longer have to be verified every time.
Wealth of information on purchasing behaviour
The big question will be whether people are willing to share their credit card information with Facebook. The company has some experience on the matter, seeing as it has the financial data from users who use Facebook Gifts or Facebook Credits.
For Facebook the application would mean a wealth of information about the purchasing behaviour of its users. Facebook says the new payment method is not intended to compete with other online payment methods, such as PayPal.
